Recent Key Developments

April 2013

2013 sees the launch of an exciting range of new features, designed to improve the experience of finding, reading and sharing content on Cambridge Journals Online (CJO) and CJO Mobile.

Facebook Social Reader App

Customers will now be able to build up their own social reading list on CJO, as well as viewing what their colleagues and peers are reading, via our new Facebook App. Once logged into CJO via Facebook, readers can choose to link their Facebook and CJO accounts, allowing them to share their reading lists on their Facebook timelines and profiles, as well as following those of friends. For more information, see our Social Reader blog post

Send papers to Dropbox / Google Drive

CJO has now enabled direct linking with cloud storage services, allowing our customers to save content online by sending PDF papers to their Dropbox or Google Drive account with the click of a button. For those with full-text access to any Cambridge Journals PDF paper, 'Send to Dropbox' and 'Send to Google Drive' buttons will now be displayed throughout CJO.

Browse by Open Access

With a growing number of Open Access articles being published on CJO, we now offer readers the option to browse all Open Access content, to facilitate access and discoverability of Open Access content.

In addition to our Open Access programme a large amount of our content is made free and publicly available. Please click here for a list of free content.

Increased linking between CJO and CBO (Cambridge Books Online)

Further linking between CJO and CBO sees the addition of books citation links throughout all journal articles on CJO. This will allow for direct linking from a journal article reference to more information about the cited title on CBO.

Readers will now also have the option to purchase reviewed books on CJO by using the 'Buy from Cambridge' or 'Buy from Amazon' buttons where available. These buttons will take readers directly to the corresponding catalogue page, saving them the need to run separate searches for titles of interest.

Improvements to Send to Kindle feature

Improvements have been made to the formatting of Cambridge Journal articles sent to a Kindle device, including enhanced presentation of tables, figures and images, and better organization of content on the page.

You can view more information about sending articles to your Kindle here, or find out how to set up your Kindle to benefit from this feature here.

Improvements to CJO Mobile (CJOm)

Updates to CJOm have been implemented to improve the mobile user interface, including reducing on-screen clutter and maintaining a touch-based focus for the site in order to enhance the user experience. To this end, the crumbtrails have been removed and the search options have been replaced by a drop-down menu.

CJOm now also features a social share bar, allowing for quick and easy sharing of all Cambridge Journals content directly from your mobile phone to your choice of over 350 social networks including Twitter, Facebook, Mendeley and Baidu. For more information on social sharing, visit our blog post.
