New EPJ portal

EDP Sciences is pleased to present the new EPJ portal aggregating the latest editorial and scientific news from all of the 'European Physical Journal' sections and the archives of predecessor journals (http://www.epj.org/)

The homepage presents the latest news and an overview of all the sections.

Articles are available either directly from the search engine, or within each section page from tabbed articles lists: most recent articles, most downloaded articles, all issues, and virtual issues gathering articles by topics or focus points.

Access to the full text articles is provided by the publishers of the sections on their own publishing platforms.

Last but not least, a new search tool, including predecessor journals as archives, has been set up allowing facet search on the whole EPJ corpus.

Technically, this portal is hosted on the web-based publishing platform Vision4Press of EDP Sciences.

As a new service to authors, EPJ Applied Physics now gives online access to the unedited preprint version of accepted papers several weeks ahead of publication. The first PDF files of accepted papers were published online in December, 2011.The PDF file is produced by the publisher from the file sent by the author and this online version does not take into account corrections made during copy-editing and production processes.Online access to accepted manuscripts is granted to all EPJ Applied Physics subscribers.Go to EPJ Applied Physics Forthcoming Papers list

EPJ Applied Physics wishes to inform readers that articles from CIP2011 will be published in the next issue of the journal (August/September 2011). The "Focus on" section (*) will be dedicated to Plasma Processes.

The 18th International Colloquium on Plasma Processes (CIP2011) is a biennial international conference focusing on the latest developments in plasma processing science and technology. The CIP topics cover the whole area of plasma processes from fundamentals to applications.

The papers will be subjected to a peer-review process, coordinated by Associated Editors of EPJ AP with Section "Plasma, Discharges and Processes" (L.L. Alves and Y. Ségui).

(*) The objective of this "Focus on" is to present the latest advances in a special topic, equally between comments on unresolved questions, topical issues, different theories, and advanced topics which are beneficial for scientific development.

We are pleased to announce that EDP Sciences has joined CrossCheck, a plagiarism detection tool.

CrossCheck is an initiative started by CrossRef, in collaboration with iParadigms, to help its members actively engage in efforts to prevent scholarly and professional plagiarism. Members deposit the full text of their published content to CrossRef’s database of current and archival scholarly literature.

This database is one of two parts that make up the CrossCheck service. The second part is a tool to compare authored work against the content in the database and highlight matching or similar text for further editorial review.

From the first 2009 issue, an article in The European Physical Journal - Applied Physics will be quoted as follows:

Eur. Phys. J. Appl. Phys. 45, 20301 (2009).
45 corresponding to the volume and 20301 to the number of the article (replacing thus the page number). This scheme offers significant advantages and flexibility: it moves publication dates up, and allows immediate quotation of an article soon after the page proofs have been returned by the authors.

As a consequence, an online issue will be “opened” as soon as the first article is ready for publication (Open issue service) and the issue will be regularly updated with additional articles. All articles should be cited by their final citation reference.

EPJ AP authors win 2007 Nobel prize. We are very pleased to present to you the list of articles they published in The European Physical Journal.

The Editors in Chief and the Publishers are pleased to announce a recent cooperation between The European Physical Journal (EPJ) and the HAL (Hyper Article on Line) system set-up by the French CNRS. This is a scientific archive system, providing also a direct interface to the LANL (Los Alamos National Laboratory) preprint server.

Our agreement allows authors to upload files containing scientific articles in the HAL database and eventually submit the same files to The European Physical Journal. While the HAL interface offers a free availability online of the documents, these documents do not benefit from a scientific evaluation by peers until they are submitted to a journal. Technically, submission to EPJ from HAL is very simple. After registering in the HAL database, a button invites you to submit in EPJ as well. Presently, there is no way for authors to specify the relevant fields of expertise. The Editorial Office will then manage the distribution of the submissions among the EPJ's sections.
