The American Society for Legal History (ASLH) is a nonprofit membership organization dedicated to fostering scholarship, teaching, and study concerning the law and institutions of all legal systems, both Anglo-American and those that do not operate in the Anglo-American tradition. Founded in 1956, the ASLH sponsors the quarterly journal Law and History Review (LHR) and Studies in Legal History, a series of book-length monographs. In addition, the ASLH holds an annual conference to promote scholarship and interaction among teachers, practitioners, and students interested in legal history. The ASLH distributes several awards and fellowships at the conference; information is available on past awards and fellowship recipients.
